Our guesthouse has a tokonoma, a space that symbolizes Japanese tradition. The tokonoma is a special space that creates a quiet and calm atmosphere, and has long been loved as a place to express Japanese aesthetics and seasonal feeling. Currently, a helmet is displayed in the tokonoma. This helmet was carefully handmade one by one by a helmet craftsman when my father was born in 1962, and is a piece that is imbued with the skill and heart of traditional craftsmen. The helmet is a symbol of a child's healthy growth and a happy future, and has been carefully protected. Please spend a relaxing time feeling the charm and warmth of Japanese culture through this tokonoma.

Recent Kabuto Circumstances

The timeless presence of the Kabuto

Modern helmets are compact and housed in cases, with gorgeous gold decorations. However, at the same time, they can also seem light and simple in their decoration. The helmets on display at Villa Kyoto Saiin are heavy and traditional in construction. They convey the spirit of samurai culture that transcends time. Come and feel the weight of history.
